More of the 2nd floor disappears from BIG barn, destined to be our new connecting door from bedroom to main barn..
moulded frame made and edges all rounded off to tie in with old oak lintel (currently masked up as i was building plaster and sanding to get a nice blend ready for painting)
frame left proud of wall and edges half round, again, to blend in nicely when finished
back to door, boards laid out and sorted for aesthetics
its got to be chunky so ledges are 40mm thick and rounded off as this is where they’ll meet frame, boards tounged & grooved
braces added, all holes to be plugged with mushroom plugs for full medieval effect
some lovely graining in this old oak
along with awesome splits
mushrooms arrived
lovely to put in and a brilliant finishing touch for the look we’re after
make a threshold with a nice lip for carpet to tuck under, yes! carpet! no more sodding cold tiles!
A special door deserves some special fittings, found a company in UK that sells hand made metalwork fitting ‘from the Anvil’ not as expensive as Kirkpatrick and is available in a waxed finish which is just lovely
sits beautifully against lintel on bedroom side
chuffed to bits
